David Moyes ‘very keen’ on West Ham signing Josh King in January – report

TalkSPORT‘s transfer guru Alex Crook has claimed that West Ham have been working on a deal to bring Bournemouth striker Josh King to the London Stadium.

The Hammers were interested in bringing King back to the Premier League during the summer but a move for the 28-year-old never materialised.

Speaking on TalkSPORT on Wednesday, Crook claimed that King is desperate to move to West Ham after being denied a move a few months ago.

He said, “I know David Moyes is still very keen to sign Josh King, having had a £13million bid rejected by Bournemouth in the summer. King also is desperate to move to the London Stadium.

“I spoke to Moyes at Southampton last night and he says he would be keen to do business in this transfer window but admitted there could well be some financial restraints in place.

“I know West Ham have been busy beavering away on a potential deal behind the scenes for several weeks now.”

Moyes must be desperate for a striker who can serve as a suitable backup to Michail Antonio as, despite the odd goal, Sebastien Haller is still failing to impress.

Unlike Haller, King has proven that he knows how to get goals in the Premier League and the chances of the striker leaving Bournemouth in January are extremely high.

King is out of contract in the summer and the Cherries won’t want to lose a high-value player for nothing which could convince them to accept a lower offer in January.

This would be ideal for the Hammers as they may not have too much money available to spend this winter.

As long as the Hammers aren’t dragged into a bidding war then a move for King would be a smart move and this report from Crooks suggests that a deal may be close.
