David Moyes shares how many more new signings he wants West Ham United to complete
David Moyes has revealed West Ham will be looking to bring in more players this summer, with “a couple” more targeted.
The Hammers’ boss shared his frustration at the club missing out on a couple of his first-choice transfer targets this summer, although he is pleased with the business they have done so far, with more still to come.
He admitted the club are aware of the positions they need to improve in, and want to add depth throughout the squad in the absence of players that have departed the club so far this summer.

Speaking to Sky Sports on 20 August, Moyes stated: “We need to now strengthen. Obviously, changes happen at every club and we’re no different from anybody else so we’ll try and freshen it up, well try and get some new players in, we want more competition in some areas.
“We’re hoping that can all come right but it takes a bit of time. We’ve missed a few players, we’ve got a few players so hopefully by the start of September we’ll be okay.
“It can be frustrating because sometimes it’s a bit like; you always want your first choice. When you get to your second or your third choice you’re not quite as keen as you were, you think ‘I don’t really like that quite as much’, so you’re always trying to get the best you can.
“I’ve got to say we’ve brought in a couple of really good players payers that I think will help us and add to what we’ve got and I’m hoping we can do that with maybe another couple before the window closes.”

A couple more are still needed
Moyes’ admission of the desire to recruit new additions to his squad comes as no surprise, as there are still holes that need filling at the London Stadium.
One position, in particular, would be at striker. Having sold Gianluca Scamacca to Atalanta for a fee amounting to around £25million, and Michail Antonio constantly being linked with a move away, the Hammers would be left with only Danny Ings up top.
The East London club have been linked to a host of strikers including Divock Origi [Tutto Mercato, 18 August] and Dominic Solanke [The Guardian, 18 August] as there is a clear focus on bringing in a new goalscorer before the window closes.
West Ham are expecting to improve the depth in defence with the arrival of Konstantinos Mavropanos, who is expected to arrive in England before the game v Chelsea and is set for a medical on Monday [ExWHUemployee, 20 August].
Moyes will be hoping that the board will listen to his demands and bring in some reinforcements to his squad before the window closes on 1 September.
In other West Ham news, the club have made an approach for a new Portuguese ace.
