David Moyes ready to offer lifeline to Harry Maguire to be next West Ham United signing
David Moyes is reportedly set to make an offer for Manchester United captain Harry Maguire as he looks to make him the next West Ham signing, according to The Mail on Sunday.
The newspaper reported in its print edition (page 97) on 16 July that the Hammers boss is ready to offer the England international a “lifeline” following the departure of skipper Declan Rice to Arsenal.
It claims the 30-year-old would have to take a “substantial” pay cut to fit in with the club’s current wage structure, with the Daily Mail reporting the centre-back still has two years left to run on his £190,000-a-week contract.

Experience
There is no doubt Maguire has had a lot to offer at certain points in his career and can, on his day, be an absolutely fine defender at Premier League level.
It hasn’t quite worked out for him at Man United since being made the club’s captain, with him falling down the pecking order and suffering a lack of form under manager Erik ten Hag last season.
But the centre-back does still bring an awful lot of experience, having been an ever-present for England manager Gareth Southgate over the past few years and leading the Red Devils out in a number of big games.

West Ham definitely need to strengthen again as we prepare for another European campaign, with reinforcements required at the back after injuries to key players left Moyes short on options last season.
There isn’t anything to suggest Maguire would be a success at the London Stadium, but with a change of scenery and less pressure, he could still have an awful lot to offer and be worth bringing in for the right deal.
In other West Ham news, one Hammers target has been training alone as he looks set to be on the move this summer.
