David Chigwada contract update emerges at West Ham United after Manchester City exit
David Chigwada has completed his Manchester City exit and signed his contract with West Ham United, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The transfer specialist shared via X on Saturday (29 June) an image of the teenage gem putting pen to paper on his deal with the Hammers having left the Etihad Stadium at the end of his current contract.
Julen Lopetegui’s side are understood to have moved incredibly quickly to secure the 16-year-old’s signature as they continue to build for the future under their new manager at the London Stadium.
Have West Ham United signed any new players under Julen Lopetegui?
It is unlikely that a 16-year-old will be immediately thrown into the West Ham first team under Lopetegui next season, but this update just shows that the Hammers are getting their ducks in a row to prepare for the future under the Real Madrid manager.
You don’t become a part of the Manchester City academy unless you’re a very talented player and while Chigwada may not be the most well-known talent at the Etihad Stadium, he could go on to have an exceptional career in East London.
The youth ranks at the London Stadium are in a great place having been incredibly successful in the last few seasons and the signing of the former Manchester City talent will only help the Hammers to kick on further.
Hopefully, there will be one or two more high-profile additions at the London Stadium between now and the start of the Premier League season as Lopetegui still needs one or two signings through the door.
Strengthening in attack appears to remain the priority and with speculation surrounding a number of players, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see one or two more players head out the door this summer.
