Darragh MacAnthony blown away by transfer West Ham United have conducted
Darragh MacAnthony believes that West Ham United landing Crysencio Summerville could be one of the Premier League’s “signings of the summer”.
Julen Lopetegui’s side have been one of the busiest in the transfer window so far and look to have improved their team tenfold since the transfer window opened.
Whilst appearing live on talkSPORT (5 August, 12:26), Peterborough United chairman MacAnthony shared his thoughts on the Hammers’ transfer business this summer and singled out the Dutchman as a stellar coup.
“I really like the lad they’ve got from Leeds,” he said. “I think that could be one of the signings of the summer. He’s got the ability to take the Premier League apart.”
Crysencio Summerville could be difference-maker for West Ham
West Ham has undergone a plethora of changes in order to try and bolster their ranks this summer.
Whilst the club managed to finish in a respectable ninth place last term, there’s no doubt they will want to improve their standing this coming campaign.
Summerville is the club’s best addition thus far, especially since the arrivals of Niclas Fullkrug and Guido Rodriguez haven’t yet been officially announced.
The Dutchman won the Championship Player of the Season award last term with the Whites and was by far and away the club’s best player.
He can play across the front three and will no doubt complement Fullkrug’s style of play once the German arrives at the London Stadium.
He offers the club another option out wide alongside the likes of Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen, which not only helps their overall depth but gives them something to fall back on should injuries occur.
And, for the reported transfer fee of around £34million when add-ons are including [Sean Whetstone, 31 July], it feels like the Hammers have got themselves a bargain deal.
