Daniel Levy tipped for lowball Tottenham bid to beat West Ham United to Max Kilman deal

West Ham could face competition from Tottenham Hotspur in their bid to sign Wolves captain Max Kilman, according to Darren Ambrose.

Speaking on talkSPORT (23 June), Ambrose said that while Kilman would be a good signing for Spurs, he’s anticipating Daniel Levy to make a low-ball offer in order to sign the centre-back.

The Hammers have reportedly already had one bid turned down for the defender, with Wolves holding out for at least £45million in order to sell their 27-year-old skipper [The Sun, 23 June].

Ambrose said: “I really like Max Kilman, I really do, so it doesn’t surprise me that clubs are going to be asking for him.

“I’d take him at Spurs, £45million? Levy will probably offer them £2million and a bag of crisps or something!”

West Ham United hope to complete Max Kilman transfer

The Irons are far from the only club in the race for Kilman this summer, even if Spurs don’t officially table a bid despite Ambrose’s comments.

With the financial might of Tottenham and Manchester United both keen on the centre-back, the Hammers may have their work cut out to bring the Wolves captain south to the London Stadium [GiveMeSport, 20 June].

However, the club do have an advantage in the form of the man who first awarded Kilman the armband at Molineux – new head coach Julen Lopetegui.

The Spaniard has made no secret of his intent to reunite with Kilman – hence the Hammers tabling an initial bid – and sealing his signature would be a big statement to make in his first transfer window [The Sun, 23 May].

Kilman could even wear the captain’s armband for the Irons if he signs for the club, and as a result he’d become the cornerstone of a side looking to make their way back onto the continent under a European specialist in Lopetegui.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers want to secure the transfer of a player who’s set to leave Tottenham Hotspur this month.
