Crystal Palace want to sign Danny Ings from West Ham United in January

Crystal Palace want to sign Danny Ings from West Ham in the January transfer window, although a departure looks unlikely for now, according to Dharmesh Sheth.

The Sky Sports journalist shared via their live transfer blog [10 January, 10:46] that Palace have joined Wolves in their pursuit, while Southampton looked into a possible deal, although he wants to remain in the Premier League.

He went on to explain that, due to the injuries to Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen, Ings could remain at the London Stadium due to a shortage of depth up front.

Speculation ramping up

Wolves have been linked with a move for Ings throughout the window so far, with a possible loan move to Molineux on the cards, but the emergence of Crystal Palace as a contender for his signature may mean the situation changes in East London.

Palace have been linked to Ings in the past both when he moved to Aston Villa and then to West Ham, so their interest does not come as a surprise, but whether they have the funds to afford his lofty wages is yet to be seen.

Injury blows to Bowen and Antonio are bitter blows to David Moyes’ plans for the season and the transfer window, but if the Hammers can bring a new striker in to bolster their ranks as has been rumoured this month, Ings should still be allowed to leave.

It will be a patient wait for both interested clubs if that is the case, with no deals thought to be close to coming through the doors at the London Stadium, and this one could go down to the wire on 31 January.
