Crysencio Summerville transfer update at West Ham United as Leeds United exit nears

West Ham United are expected to complete the signing of Crysencio Summerville on Friday 2 August, according to Graham Smyth.

The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist reported via X on Friday (2 August) that the Leeds United winger is set to end his spell at Elland Road and finalise his move to the London Stadium “later today”.

Reports had suggested the Dutchman was undergoing the second part of his medical with the Hammers hoping they were able to finalise the transfer soon after [Dharmesh Sheth, 2 August].

Julen Lopetegui’s side are expected to pay an initial fee in excess of £25million for Summerville’s signature, with further fees also expected to be paid in add-ons in the future [Sean Whetstone, 1 August].

Will Crysencio Summerville exit Leeds United amid West Ham United transfer speculation?

The Hammers were always expected to add to their attacking ranks this summer as Lopetegui puts his stamp on the squad left behind by David Moyes, but this feels as though it could be an excellent piece of business.

Summerville was the Championship’s player of the season last term. While some will question whether the standard is comparable with the Premier League, the Dutchman has garnered attention from some of the division’s biggest clubs.

His ability on the ball and eye for goal will add a completely different aspect to West Ham’s frontline over the course of the next season and balance their squad slightly, as there has been a lack of depth on the left wing.

Hopefully, he can hit the ground running in the top flight and adapt to the Premier League in a similar manner to how Mohammed Kudus did this time last year.

If Summerville can be half as good as the Ghanaian international was in his first season at the London Stadium, the Hammers have managed to get their hands on another exceptional talent for the future.
