Crysencio Summerville has successfully completed his medical ahead of his transfer to West Ham United, according to Sean Whetstone.

Whetstone reported via the West Ham Football X account on Friday (2 August) that the Dutchman is set to put pen to paper on a five-year contract at the London Stadium "before 4pm today".

Although everything is in place for the deal to be completed, no date or time has yet been set for an announcement from the club and it remains unclear if Summerville will travel to the pre-season tour in the US [Dharmesh Sheth, 2 August].

Julen Lopetegui's side are expected to pay an initial fee in excess of £25million for his signature, with further fees also expected to be paid in add-ons in the future [Sean Whetstone, 1 August].

Will Crysencio Summerville exit Leeds United amid West Ham transfer rumours?

While it would have been a surprise to see this deal fall through at the final hurdle, it is good to see that everything is now in place for the Dutch winger to put pen to paper on his deal at the London Stadium.

While Lopetegui's priority was to bolster his striking and defensive options this summer, adding some depth to the wide areas of the field was a necessity following the departures of Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals in January.

David Moyes had been reliant on Mohammad Kudus and Jarod Bowen for large portions of the second half of last season and while both players have been excellent, they cannot be expected to play every minute of every game.

The signing of Summerville not only addresses that issue, but it brings one of the Championship's most exciting and promising talents to East London when a whole host of clubs were in the running for his signature.

Hopefully, he will hit the ground running under Lopetegui this season.
