Conor Gallagher contract update emerges at Chelsea as West Ham United eye 2024 transfer – Dean Jones

West Ham are eyeing a move for Chelsea and England midfielder Conor Gallagher in 2024, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The journalist reported on TEAMtalk on Monday (23 October) that the Blues are set to re-enter talks with the player over his future amid the interest.

The England international, who has made 11 appearances for Chelsea this season, is tied down to the club until 2025.

“Chelsea are set to re-enter talks with Conor Gallagher over his future before the end of this year as Newcastle, West Ham, Brighton and Tottenham eye up a 2024 swoop, TEAMtalk understands.

“Tottenham have had an eye on Gallagher’s situation but close family ties to Chelsea would make such a move across London difficult to fathom.

“Meanwhile, Newcastle United, West Ham and Brighton have also had an eye on him though and all three continue to consider plans in the midfield for 2024.”

Gallagher has been impressive for Chelsea this season, even amid the recent mega-money arrivals at Stamford Bridge.

Two such arrivals have been in his position, with Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo making their way into the club’s midfield.

But with nine Premier League matches and two EFL Cup matches this season, Gallagher has been relied upon heavily by manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Still, one can never be quite sure about the transfer window when it comes to the West London outfit, with constant movement in both directions now the norm under owner Todd Boehly.

Losing England international Gallagher would be a blow, but at the same time it would be a great coup for the Hammers.

A January switch may, however, be unlikely given how David Moyes strengthened in midfield in the summer through James Ward-Prowse and Edson Alvarez.

The situation could, of course, change if the London Stadium club were to lose a midfielder in the upcoming window, with Tomas Soucek potentially making way.
