Chukwuemeka transfer: Romano shares West Ham update before 3 February deadline
West Ham United are still not guaranteed to sign Carney Chukwuemeka from Chelsea before 3 February, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Hammers have been linked with the former Aston Villa man since the winter window opened as they look to bolster their ranks.
Speaking to Give Me Sport (2 February), Romano shared a fresh update about Chukwuemeka’s future.
He said: “Yes, these are two names [Chukwuemeka and Dewsbury-Hall] they’ve considered for sure. [West Ham] could add one more midfielder – yes, it’s a possibility. But at the moment, Chelsea have several opportunities for these two players, especially for Chukwuemeka.
“I think Dewsbury-Hall has a chance to stay and continue at Chelsea. Chukwuemeka is assessing his options. There was interest from Juventus, there is interest from more clubs, and also the opportunity to send him to the same group team in Strasbourg.
“They are assessing all the opportunities. For West Ham, it’s still not guaranteed, the deal for Chukwuemeka.”

At the moment, it feels like the Hammers are stuck in a bit of a rut with the only way out for them being to add some new faces to their ranks.
While Graham Potter’s men aren’t yet involved in the Premier League’s relegation battle, it feels like if things don’t turn around at some point soon, it could go from bad to worse at the London Stadium.
And, with Guido Rodriguez still looking for a way out of E20, the Hammers could end up being somewhat light in the centre of the park, especially if the likes of Edson Alvarez or Tomas Soucek get injured.
Chukwuemeka may not be the most exciting of names to fans but the fact he’s a Premier League-proven player and can play anywhere in the middle of the pitch makes him a valuable asset to any team.
At the moment, it’s unclear what West Ham will do but it feels like the best possible move for them at the moment would be to bring the 21-year-old in.
