West Ham United have been offered the chance to hire Christophe Galtier, Massimiliano Allegri or Maurizio Sarri if Julen Lopetegui is sacked, according to Foot Mercato.

The French outlet reported on 6 December that Galtier – currently managing Al-Duhail in Qatar – as well as the out-of-work Allegri and Sarri, are all on the Hammers' radar should they give Lopetegui the boot.

Pressure on Lopetegui has grown after a dismal start to the season, and with many on the Irons' board keen to pull the trigger, the likes of Sergio Conceicao have also been sounded out.

West Ham face imminent decision on Julen Lopetegui's future

Given the plethora of managerial names – both in and out of work currently – that have been linked with becoming the Irons' next manager already this season, the writing is clearly on the wall for Lopetegui.

As well as the sheer quantity of manager, plenty of quality ones – like Galtier, Sarri and Allegri – have also had their hats thrown into the ring, not leaving the club short of choice if and when the time comes.

Lopetegui is walking a tightrope going into what could well be his final game against former employers Wolves on 9 December, with a 3-1 defeat at Leicester City last time out leaving him hanging onto his job by a thread.

It remains to be seen if Sullivan would opt for a manager currently in work, like Galtier, or whether he would stick to his usual principle of looking for unemployed candidates only – as he did with Lopetegui.

Playing things safe by hiring the 58-year-old hasn't been the masterstroke Sullivan thought it would be, and if the Hammers' board truly want to progress, the next appointment must be an ambitious one.
