West Ham have been linked with a move to sign Filip Jorgensen from Chelsea.
With the arrivals of Taty Castellanos and Felipe, West Ham have successfully bolstered their forward line under Nuno Espirito Santo.
However, that itself will not be enough to steer the Hammers away from relegation, with defensive reinforcements needed just as much, given the fact that they have the worst defensive record in the Premier League.
Defensive solidity starts from the very back, with Alphonse Areola doing very little to instil confidence between the sticks, with West Ham eying a move to sign Jorgensen.

With Mads Hermansen linked with an exit from West Ham, and Areola doing very little to stake a claim for his place in the side in the long-term, the Hammers need to sign a goalkeeper.
It looked as though they were set to complete a move to sign Al Nassr’s Bento before Genoa swooped in at a very late stage.
As a result, West Ham have added Jorgensen to their list of targets, but if they are to seal a deal, it will cost them.
That is because Ben Jacobs has reported that Chelsea will only be willing to negotiate a permanent exit for the Dane, as opposed to a temporary deal.
It’s claimed that the Blues have no intention to sell, though if an offer is right, they could be persuaded into allowing his exit.
Jorgensen wants first-team football in order to build a stronger case for his place in the Denmark squad should they qualify for this summer’s World Cup.

Very few will have imagined a goalkeeper transfer holding as much importance as it does for West Ham, but the stats from the current campaign showcase why survival may hinge on it.
Hermansen, who was dropped after four games, has one of the worst shot-stopping records in the division, with a 45 per cent save percentage.
Areola’s is slightly better at 68 per cent, though he also comes with another major concern.
The Frenchman has a 47 per cent distribution rate, which is, again, one of the worst in the Premier League.
West Ham desperately need an upgrade in both departments.
