Chelsea teen Ekwah-Elimby expects to sign 3/4-year contract with West Ham

Chelsea youngster Pierre Ekwah-Elimby is expected to sign a three or four-year deal with West Ham, according to RMC Sport.

The French news outlet reports that Ekwah-Elimby, 19, has been training with the Hammers for the last few weeks.

It is understood the young defensive midfielder, who can also play in the defence, will arrive permanently in East London for a fee of £1.2million with Chelsea set to earn a certain percentage of his next move.

Lengthy contract

West Ham clearly rate Ekwah-Elimby highly if they’re willing to offer him a contract that could be four years long.

Chelsea’s official website also bigs up the young Frenchman.

While he’s mainly played as a defensive midfielder in Premier League 2 this season for Chelsea’s Under-23s, he’s described as “a left-sided central defender” who is “a quick and athletic individual who also enjoys coming out of defence with the ball”.

He sounds good but then again, why would the Stamford Bridge club say anything negative about the former Nantes player?

It remains to be seen what role Ekwah-Elimby will play at West Ham next season and in the future but as his contract could take him until his 23rd birthday, there’s a strong chance he’s seen as someone with a future with the Hammers.

Chelsea wouldn’t have tried to get that clause in the agreement if they didn’t think he’d be worth more in the future and West Ham wouldn’t have spent over £1million on someone just to play in their Under-23s.
