Chelsea could demand £45m from West Ham for Trevoh Chalobah
Following the expected arrival of Axel Disasi, Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah could be set to leave the club, and Chelsea will demand £45million for his services amid interest from West Ham, according to Jacob Steinberg.
Steinberg wrote in The Guardian on 31 July that both Inter Milan and West Ham have displayed their interest in the English centre-back, with Chelsea ready to listen to offers for him.
It was previously thought that Chalobah would stay at Chelsea and fight for his place, but recent developments in the Blues’ move for Disasi has complicated things, after reports in The Athletic [July 31] calling the deal “bad news” for Chalobah as he is viewed as a sellable asset.

Another pricey target
With Chelsea setting their price at £45million, Chalobah would be yet another pricey target for the Hammers, after Manchester United duo Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay were also rumoured to cost upwards of the £40million mark.
The deal to sell Declan Rice to Arsenal saw West Ham receive £105million very publicly, which may be affecting the prices that the club are being quoted in their pursuit of new players.
This would explain the Hammers’ struggles in the transfer market, as everybody is aware they have money to spend and will look to get the most out of any possible asset West Ham might be interested in.

West Ham were linked with a move for Chalobah earlier this month [90min, 3 July], as they look to bolster their options at centre-back, having also been linked to Manchester United’s Harry Maguire [Manchester Evening News, 29 July] and Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah [Sky Sports, 28 July] in recent days.
In other West Ham news, the club are seriously looking at other options for the centre-mid spot this summer.
