Championship trio in pursuit of West Ham attacker Mipo Odubeko

West Ham attacker Mipo Odubeko is attracting “serious attention” from a trio of Championship clubs, according to The Athletic’s Roshane Thomas.

The 18-year-old forward is wanted by Huddersfield Town, Middlesbrough and Derby County, though the Terriers are said to be favourites to sign him.

Odubeko, as per Thomas’s report, is eager to gain senior experience after finding his pathway at the London Stadium blocked by the likes of Andriy Yarmolenko and Jarrod Bowen, who are ahead of him in the pecking order despite Michail Antonio being the only senior striker at the club.

The teenager wants a loan move, and the aforementioned trio are keen to do a deal on those terms.

Exit-bound?

Odubeko made his West Ham debut against Manchester United last season and he scored 10 goals in nine Premier League 2 appearances for the Under-23 side.

He has continued the new season in a similar vein, netting twice for the second-string already.

However, it appears that he has his mind set on moving elsewhere for the 2021/22 campaign.

It’s hard to deny him the opportunity to leave on a temporary basis – he has proven his worth at Under-23 level, and now he is getting to the age where he wants to accumulate minutes in senior football.

He could learn a lot from legendary Premier League striker Wayne Rooney, who is currently in charge at Derby, while Middlesbrough look set for a promotion push under Neil Warnock this season.

Huddersfield have also shown they can look after club’s promising youngsters, with Chelsea’s Levi Colwill already making a big impression in Yorkshire.

In other West Ham news, this 23y/o attacker was benched on Thursday clash due to Irons transfer talks.
