Carlos Soler will miss PSG match on Friday, he’s on verge of West Ham United transfer

Carlos Soler will be absent from the Paris Saint-Germain squad against Montpellier as he finalises a transfer to West Ham United, according to L’Equipe.

Writing on their website [23 August], the French outlet reported that Soler has played his final match for PSG ahead of a move to the Premier League.

The Hammers faced competition from Everton [Florian Plettenberg] for the Spaniard but are now reportedly set to win the race for his signature.

West Ham United set to sign Carlos Soler

Julen Lopetegui has been blessed with an influx of quality signings in East London this summer with the 27-year-old set to continue the new era at the London Stadium.

Guido Rodriguez has already played in claret and blue this season as a new addition to the midfield and it seems no area of the pitch will be ignored by Tim Steidten in his recruitment.

Soler is a different profile of player than those already with the club, he can play at the heart of the midfield or further up the pitch as the number 10 and will complement the qualities of James Ward-Prowse and Tomas Soucek whilst providing competition to Lucas Paqueta behind the striker.

The Irons are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to finish in the European places this season and now boast a squad brimming with top-level talent.

Soler, when announced, will bring Champions League and title-winning experience to East London and will be a fantastic coup for Lopetegui.

In a summer where nine players have walked through the door at the Irons, it is hard to pinpoint the marquee signing given the quality of the additions and while Soler may fly under the radar amongst the flashier signings, this has the potential to be one of the signings of the summer.
