Callum Wilson to pack his bags and quit West Ham United within days as exit ready

Callum Wilson may perhaps be the weirdest story of the entire Premier League season.

West Ham signed Wilson as a free agent after his exit from Newcastle over the summer, and he has already played under two managers.

Graham Potter rarely used the England international, but Nuno Espirito Santo was rewarded when he used him at the London Stadium.

Wilson scored plenty, but West Ham have now signed Taty Castellanos and Pablo at the start of January.

Callum Wilson exit surprise

Despite his goalscoring exploits in limited playing time, Wilson is now set for the exit at West Ham.

The news came out of nowhere, with talks between the striker and the Irons planned to terminate his contract agreement to explore other options.

Suggestions that his contract was too much money have been squashed, with Nuno simply not favouring Wilson over his new options, it seems.

More details have now emerged, with Wilson set to confirm his exit sharply.

The Daily Mail reported in its print edition on Saturday that the striker will pack his bags and leave the London Stadium within the next 10 days.

It is said that James Ward-Prowse and Mads Hermansen can also leave if they find new clubs before the 2 February deadline.

Callum Wilson by the numbers at West Ham

Only Jarrod Bowen has scored more goals than Wilson in all competitions at West Ham this season.

When you compare the minutes played by each of them, the striker has actually done miles better than his captain, who is only two ahead of his four.

West Ham are fighting for their lives to survive in the Premier League, with relegation more likely than not at this current stage.

Wilson would have been a more-than-handy option, given that Pablo and Castellanos have never played in England before in their careers.

Instead, Nuno and the Irons are forced to throw their entire hopes onto two unproven strikers.
