Bristol City reject bid from Premier League side for West Ham United target as they look to start bidding war

Bristol City have rejected a bid from Bournemouth for West Ham target Alex Scott, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper is reporting that the Cherries placed a bid of £15million plus add-ons for the highly coveted youngster, but the Championship outfit are believed to be looking for a fee in the region of £25million.

The 19-year-old, who Pep Guardiola referred to as an “unbelievable player” when the Robins played Manchester City in the FA Cup earlier this year, scored one goal and added five assists in 42 appearances last season.

Worth a gamble

There has been a lot of talk around Scott since the Bristol City wonderkid put in that stellar performance against Manchester City and Guardiola was very impressed by the youngster.

No one can really blame the Robins for trying to get a transfer fee that they believe is the right value for the player and the efforts they have put into helping him to develop since he signed from Guernsey three years ago.

The £15m fee Bournemouth are reported to have offered falls well below that valuation and it is going to take a few more million – or some achievable add-ons – for them to budge on that price.

The most important thing for West Ham to consider is how much becoming involved in a bidding war could cost them and whether they are willing to take what could turn out to be a worthwhile gamble on a teenage talent.

Once the Declan Rice deal eventually moves over the line, we should have plenty of money in the bank to take a punt on a player that has impressed so many people in recent times, so it could be worth making a move before a rival club snaps him up.
