Brighton set for West Ham fee in new Evan Ferguson transfer twist

Brighton are set to receive a loan fee from West Ham United for the signing of Evan Ferguson, according to Sky Sports.

Dharmesh Sheth reported via the Sky Sports’ live blog (2 February) that the Irishman is undergoing his medical on Sunday ahead of his London Stadium switch.

Ferguson has been long linked with a move to E20 and now it finally seems like the deal is about to get over the line until the end of the season.

West Ham United signing Evan Ferguson is a smart move

Since the winter transfer window opened, it’s been clear that the Hammers needed to add a new number nine to their ranks.

Niclas Fullkrug was brought in during the summer transfer window to fill the void that Michail Antonio and Danny Ings failed to fill last season.

However, since he arrived at the London Stadium, the German has spent most of his time on the sidelines nursing one injury after another.

This has left Graham Potter and his men in a bit of a pickle as they have only had one natural striker available to them for some time.

While Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta could put in a shift at striker if needed, it feels a bit safer for the Hammers to have a natural number nine as their focal point.

Here’s hoping that the Irishman avoids West Ham’s striker curse and hits the ground running as soon as he arrives.
