Brian Brobbey loan: West Ham contingency plan emerges amid transfer update

West Ham United are now prioritising a move for Brian Brobbey over Andre Silva, according to Sean Whetstone.

The Hammers insider reported via his West Ham Football X account (24 January) that Silva remains a “contingency option” if the loan deal for the Dutchman falls through.

However, his medical is already reportedly booked to take place within the next 48 hours so one way or another, fans will get their answer soon [TBR Football, 24 January].

“West Ham are close to signing young Ajax striker Brian Brobbey on loan,” Whetstone wrote.

“The 22-year-old Dutch player originally from RB Leipzig was previously a target of Manchester United.

“Brobbey has been prioritised over a loan Andre Silva who remains a contingency option if the Ajax loan doesn’t get over the line.”

Graham Potter will turn West Ham United’s season around

Graham Potter was appointed as the new Hammers boss after Julen Lopetegui performed well below expectations when at the helm.

While the Englishman managed to defeat Fulham during his second game in charge, things haven’t been all sunshine and rainbows at the London Stadium with the Hammers losing 2-0 to Crystal Palace on 18 January.

Even though several new faces were brought in over the summer transfer window to bolster their ranks, the fact that their main signing Niclas Fullkrug has spent most of his time sidelined is no doubt a major cause for concern.

Which is why it isn’t a surprise to see the likes of Silva and Brobbey being linked with a move to London.

Only time will tell what the future holds for Potter and his men but if they can secure the services of the Ajax talisman before the window slams shut, he could well turn things around at the London Stadium and be their saviour.
