Brentford make Ivan Toney exit decision as West Ham United eye summer transfer
Brentford are ready to slash their asking price for Ivan Toney with West Ham United one of his most likely suitors, according to The Sun.
The outlet reported on its website on Thursday (18 July) that Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United have told the Bees that they don’t intend to place a bid for the England international this summer.
Thomas Frank’s side had hoped to create a bidding war for the 28-year-old this summer having initially invited bids upwards of £80million, but now would be willing to accept offers below £50million.
Brentford are understood to be surprised by the lack of interest in the England striker which has left Julen Lopetegui’s Hammers and Tottenham in the running for Toney’s signature.
Will West Ham United sign Ivan Toney in the summer transfer window?
Lopetegui and Tim Steidten are still in the market for a new number nine this summer as they look to increase Michail Antonio’s competition at the top end of the pitch ahead of the new Premier League season.
The Hammers, like several of their Premier League counterparts, are yet to lodge a formal offer for Toney’s services [Roshane Thomas, 12 July]. However, Brentford’s decision to lower their asking price could see that change in the coming weeks.
Although he didn’t set the league alight last term, Toney has shown throughout his career that he can be an incredibly prolific forward and his style of play would appear to be the perfect fit for the Hammers.

West Ham don’t have millions to spend this summer, but they are willing to get their chequebook out for the right players and Toney could well be one of them, especially if they have a free-run at his signature.
With the Euros now over, the Irons will likely decide whether or not to test the Bees’ resolve sooner rather than later.
In other West Ham news, Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s agent has reportedly made a desperate plea to David Sullivan amid links with a summer transfer
