Borussia Dortmund respond as West Ham United table £15m Niclas Fullkrug bid
West Ham will continue working on a deal for Niclas Fullkrug after having an offer rejected by Borussia Dortmund, according to Ben Jacobs.
The GiveMeSport journalist shared via his personal X account on Wednesday (31 July) that West Ham were unsuccessful with their £15million bid.
Despite that setback, the Irons are still plugging away at a deal and are also still confident of landing Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Manchester United.
Niclas Fullkrug could shine at West Ham United
Fullkrug is not a name that will get supporters as excited as that of Crysencio Summerville, who looks set to join from Leeds United, but he does seem to tick plenty of boxes.
As someone who played regularly for Champions League finalists Dortmund last season, and scored for host nation Germany at Euro 2024, he certainly has pedigree.
West Ham will not be signing a player who is capable of taking on multiple opponents, but nor do they need that type of centre-forward.
Instead, they need someone who can stay high up the pitch and help link up play with the likes of Lucas Paqueta, Jarrod Bowen, Mohammed Kudus and indeed Summerville.
Julen Lopetegui will also require Fullkrug to get into double figures for goals in the Premier League, and there is no reason why he cannot achieve that.
United clearly like the look of him, which explains why they are refusing to give in after having this first bid knocked back.
Let’s just hope they have more success as and when a second bid is tabled, which will hopefully be soon.
