Bids submitted: Luizao could exit West Ham United in late January deal as decision made on offers

Brazilian defender Luizao could exit West Ham United in the January transfer window, according to Premier League Brasil.

The publication reported on its website on Friday (26 January) that the player has received two new proposals to leave on loan.

But Premier League Brasil added that the Hammers have denied offers from clubs in Portugal and Brazil that are interested in his signature.

“In addition to the teams in Brazil that were interested in the 21-year-old player, two teams in Portugal made proposals to sign him,” according to Premier League Brasil.

“PL Brasil found that West Ham denied offers from Portuguese teams that would like to have Luizao on loan. The English team also has no interest in giving him to Brazilian football. Botafogo, Cruzeiro, Fortaleza and Bahia tried to sign him, but were refused.”

One for the future?

It does seem strange that West Ham continue to employ the services of the defender, given that he has been limited to reserve matches since joining the club.

The 21-year-old has made 17 appearances in all competitions this season, 12 of which have come in the Premier League 2, with the other five coming in the EFL Trophy.

After emerging through the youth ranks at Sao Paulo, the centre-back made the switch to East London this time last year. But he is yet to feature for the first team under David Moyes, who perhaps regards the player as one for the future.

The defender is, of course, still young and in the very early stages of his career, with Moyes maybe wanting him to develop his career in youth football before being given a chance on the big stage.

The West Ham manager is currently relying on the likes of Nayef Aguerd, Kurt Zouma, Konstantinos Mavropanos and Angelo Ogbonna in that area.

In other West Ham news, Dharmesh Sheth has shared a Hammers stance on a potential signing in a £15million transfer update.
