Besiktas eye move for West Ham United midfielder Manuel Lanzini

Besiktas are eyeing a summer move for West Ham United’s Argentinian midfielder Manuel Lanzini according to Fanatik.

The Turkish news outlet suggested (9 July) that Besiktas are eyeing a new number ten and see Lanzini as a cheap option due to his contract situation.

The 29-year-old has one year left on his current West Ham deal after joining the club in 2015.

Decision to make

Lanzini has been a good servant for West Ham for a long, long time and the club need to weigh up how much of an impact the attacking midfielder will have at the London Stadium in the 2022/23 season.

The Argentinian made a good contribution in the 2021/22 Premier League season, scoring five goals and managing three assists.

The 29-year-old also won the Hammers’ goal of the season accolade for his strike against Crystal Palace.

There is a big decision for David Moyes to make regarding Lanzini.

West Ham

West Ham’s boss needs to decide on letting the midfielder and bringing in a new face is the right path to take.

Lanzini is in the prime of his career and will only have two to three years left in him at the top level.

It could well be wise for Moyes to move the 29-year-old on this summer in a bid to free up space in his wage budget and bring in a younger face.

Regardless of whether Lanzini departs the London Stadium this summer, he will be fondly remembered at West Ham and has been a big part of the Irons’ success in recent years.

With a year left on his current deal, it would not be a surprise to see him leave the London Stadium this summer.
