Brentford star Said Benrahma is set to be announced as West Ham’s newest player after the Algeria forward agreed terms with the East London club, according to Claret & Hugh.
The Hammers news website report that Benrahma, 25, has agreed to sign a contract with £45,000-a-week while West Ham will pay £30million for the ex-Nice attacker. It is understood that £25million will be paid up front with the remaining £5million paid in add-ons.
Earlier this week, the London Evening Standard reported that there were complications in the deal to sign Benrahma due to an issue between the player and Brentford.
That issue seems to have been cleared up though with David Moyes set to officially add Benrahma to his West Ham squad before the 5pm transfer deadline passes on Friday.
Although it’s unlikely Benrahma will be thrown straight into West Ham’s starting line-up for the trip to Tottenham on Sunday, there’s a good chance that the Algerian will be a regular starter for the Irons over the course of the season.
Benrahma hasn’t played too much for Brentford this season due to the speculation surrounding his future over in West London but the 25-year-old has still managed to show he has what it takes to perform in the Premier League by scoring twice in the Bees’ 3-0 Carabao Cup win over Fulham.
While we admit that Fulham are a team who could get relegated this season, Benrahma’s absolutely strolled it against some of the best teams the Championship had to offer last season.
It remains to be seen how he will perform against the Premier League’s best but we’re confident that he can shine against teams who West Ham are expecting to compete with in the top-flight.
