Ben Jacobs shares fresh West Ham United transfer update on Chelsea ace Armando Broja

A switch for Chelsea striker Armando Broja to West Ham United this month is unlikely, according to Ben Jacobs.

The journalist noted that Aston Villa are also showing an interest in the player, but it is Fulham and Wolves who are more active in his pursuit.

The 22-year-old forward has registered two goals and two assists from his 19 appearances in all competitions this season.

“In 2022, West Ham in that summer window made a £33million offer, and even something around that mark again might potentially be successful, depending on the structure,” Jacobs told GIVEMESPORT.

“So Wolves and Fulham are the two main ones to watch. We can’t entirely discount Aston Villa, because they did make an enquiry with a view to a swap deal with Jhon Duran, who’s now injured, potentially going the other way.

“There was no formal bid made, but it shows you that Aston Villa were also considering Broja. So we wait and see whether they reignite that interest having made an approach.

“And then we know West Ham have held a historical interest and a move at this stage from them is termed unlikely. So there’s four potential suitors but there’s two that are more active and that’s Fulham and Wolves.”

Up in the air

Given their various issues in the final third, it seems that West Ham, Wolves, Fulham and Aston Villa could all do with a new striker in the door this month.

But in terms of their pursuit of Broja, it remains to be seen just who, if anyone, will sanction a big-money move before the deadline closes.

The striker has shone at times throughout his brief career so far, most notably on a loan spell at Southampton, but chances at Stamford Bridge have been few and far between this season.

Broja has, however, come back into the fold under Mauricio Pochettino in more recent times, but he could still exit the West London club this month.

Their squad remains very busy, and perhaps Broja is looking for more regular playing time at this important stage of his career.

West Ham

The Hammers have largely relied on Jarrod Bowen centrally in recent times, with Michail Antonio having been sidelined for quite some time with injury.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers want to seal a loan for a new forward as a “hitch” emerges, according to Jacob Steinberg.
