Ben Jacobs shares fresh West Ham United stance on Armando Broja, ‘big decision’ looms

West Ham United could reignite their interest in Chelsea ace Armando Broja this month, according to Ben Jacobs.

The journalist reported that fellow Premier League clubs Fulham and Wolves are, however, more active in this pursuit.

The 22-year-old striker has made 36 appearances for Chelsea, 17 of which have come in all competitions this season.

“There are a few things to say about Broja,” Jacobs told GIVEMESPORT (21 January). “The first thing is that there’s quite a lot of interest, which comes from Fulham and Wolves, who would prefer to do a loan with an option to buy or could be persuaded into an obligation. But they would prefer to structure it so they’re not buying permanently and spending much money in this window.

“Then you have West Ham, who have been tracking Broja for quite some time. The interest is historical, but they could be tempted to reignite it. When they bid for Broja a few windows back, they looked at just over £30m. But I think Fulham and Wolves may be slightly more active than West Ham.

“But if there is to be a departure in this window, then obviously, any club interested that isn’t active now has to make a big decision. So, we can’t rule out West Ham, but maybe Fulham and Wolves are more active.”

On the move?

Broja seemingly has several suitors, but whether or not Chelsea are prepared to lose the young striker in the January transfer window remains to be seen.

Firstly, the Stamford Bridge club may regard the 22-year-old as one for the future, even if he has featured heavily in recent times.

Secondly, with plenty of injuries for the Blues, Broja is getting game time under Mauricio Pochettino, who may need to keep as many players as he can this month.

In terms of West Ham and their current issues, manager David Moyes could certainly do with a new striker. Winger Jarrod Bowen has been leading the line lately amid the absence of Michail Antonio, while there is uncertainty around fellow strikers Danny Ings and Divin Mubama.

West Ham

A quick fix could be needed for the Hammers in the final third, particularly if they plan to continue going strong in both the Premier League and Europa League.

In other West Ham news, clubs are queuing up to sign a Hammers international on loan after his recent appearance in the FA Cup.
