Ben Jacobs details West Ham United update on Armando Broja Chelsea transfer

West Ham United want to sign Chelsea striker Armando Broja in January, but there is a big difference in valuations between the two clubs, according to Ben Jacobs.

The CBS journalist has reported that the Stamford Bridge striker is also wanted by fellow Premier League clubs Wolves and Fulham.

Jacobs added that the price may be at £50million, with Rasmus Hojlund’s move to Manchester United used as a potential guidestick for any future deal.

“Aston Villa are another new club that I can mention that should be considered in this conversation,” Jacobs told GIVEMESPORT (18 January).

“Wolves, Fulham and West Ham are also among the suitors, but there is a big difference between the suitors’ valuation and what they think is possible from any informal enquiries versus the number that Chelsea are putting out there through sources.

“The Chelsea number may be £50million, with the Rasmus Hojlund transfer used as a yardstick, but everyone accepts that the Hojlund fee had a Manchester United tax on it.

“That was much higher than Manchester United wanted to pay. Hojlund was seen as a €60million or €70million player, but the final fee was much closer to €90million.”

Unlikely?

For now it seems that a move to the London Stadium for Broja is unlikely, primarily given the transfer fee being suggested.

Moreover, the reported interest from the likes of Fulham and Wolves also makes a switch to East London more difficult.

West Ham manager David Moyes should really be looking for a new striker sooner rather than later, with his options in that area limited at this moment in time.

His number one option Michail Antonio has missed a lot of action this season through injury, forcing winger Jarrod Bowen into an unfamiliar striker role.

The England ace has absolutely thrived in that position, but perhaps now it is time for Moyes to find a more natural goalscorer.

The futures of Danny Ings and Divin Mubama meanwhile remain up in the air, with both potentially leaving the club at the end of the season.

But while a new striker is needed, Hammers fans will be hoping that there is a more exciting option out there than Broja.
