Barcelona to sanction Clement Lenglet exit amid West Ham United transfer interest

West Ham United target Clement Lenglet is now free to leave Barcelona as the Spanish giants have sanctioned his exit via a loan deal, according to SPORT.

The Spanish outlet reported via its online edition on 28 June that Hansi Flick now sees the Frenchman as a “clear discard”, with West Ham having made their interest know earlier in the summer.

Despite the Hammers’ interest, they aren’t the only ones being linked with a move for the former Tottenham man. The Likes of Napoli and Sevilla are also vying for his transfer.

SPORT also added that an official offer has not yet been submitted by the London-based club.

Why West Ham United should target Clement Lenglet this summer

For fans and pundits alike, it comes as no surprise that Julen Lopetegui is looking for defensive reinforcements this summer, particularly at centre-back.

One player that West Ham have been consistently linked with of late is Max Kilman.

The Wolves captain has been the subject of a £30million bid from the Hammers [The Sun, 23 June, page 56] but once again, this was met with rejection.

In reality, any fee higher than another £5m seems like too much, especially when the Hammers need to upgrade multiple areas of their squad.

As Lenglet would be available on a loan deal, he would cost Lopetegui far less money and would allow them to target other players in other problem areas such as upfront.
