Atletico Madrid respond to West Ham United summer transfer bid for Samu Omorodion
Atletico Madrid have rejected a summer transfer offer from West Ham United for Samu Omorodion, according to Knees Up Mother Brown.
The outlet reported on its website on Tuesday (4 June) that the Hammers will have to table a larger offer this summer to secure the 20-year-old striker after their initial proposal was rejected by the Spanish giants.
Atletico are understood to be open to offers for the forward this summer who they value at around £25.5million (€30million), even though Omorodion is yet to play a single competitive minute of football for them.
This update emerged only hours after reports in Spain claimed that the Irons had closed an agreement to bring the 20-year-old to the London Stadium for £25.5million [El Desmarque, 4 June].
Will West Ham United sign Samu Omorodion from Atletico Madrid in the summer transfer window?
The transfer window may not have even officially got up and running yet, but the drama around West Ham’s business is already swirling with new updates emerging every few hours about several players on the Irons’ radar.
Omorodion is incredibly highly thought of in Spain, having impressed with nine goals in 35 La Liga matches last term whilst on loan at Deportivo Alaves and he could offer a solution to the Irons’ striker problem.

But it remains to be seen how much the Hammers will be willing to move away from their original bid for the forward if their initial offer has been thrown out. Julen Lopetegui may feel there are better targets available at that sort of price.
Ultimately, the ball is now back in West Ham’s court and they will have to decide whether to return to Madrid with a bigger offer. So much could depend on just how much the Spanish giants want to let the 20-year-old leave this summer.
Hopefully, the Irons will make a decision quickly so plans can be put in place for the rest of the summer.
