Arsenal demands for Reiss Nelson emerge as West Ham United edge closer to transfer

Arsenal are demanding between £15-20million to allow Reiss Nelson to join West Ham this summer, according to The Mirror.

Writing on their live blog (19 July, 12:51), the news outlet report that the Hammers are “leading the race” for the winger’s signature, with Nelson keen on a move to the London Stadium.

The England youth international is said to be “desperate” to get more first-team football next season, and the Gunners are said to be willing to let him leave for that fee and reports suggest West Ham are closing in on a deal [TEAMtalk, 18 July].

Reiss Nelson could be a bargain for West Ham United

Attacking reinforcements are needed at the London Stadium, despite the £30million arrival of Brazilian youngster Luis Guilherme earlier in the window.

Michail Antonio’s future is unclear [Athletic, 15 May] and Said Benrahma has completed a permanent move away already, which leaves Julen Lopetegui with limited options.

When everyone is fit, it’s fair to assume that Lucas Paqueta, Jarrod Bowen, Mohammed Kudus and Guilherme will be the starters as things stand, but that shouldn’t put Nelson off a move.

There are plenty of games throughout the season and Nelson is a more traditional winger in the sense that he is very direct and likes to beat his man in one on one situations.

That would make him perfect for the way Lopetegui wants to play, and would give him the regular game time he desires. At £20million, or potentially even less, he would be a bargain.
