Armando Broja medical booked after West Ham United transfer hunt

West Ham United are missing out on Armando Broja with the Chelsea striker joining Ipswich on loan, according to HITC.

The news outlet reported on Tuesday (20 August) that Broja, 22, will undergo a medical with the Premier League new boys on Wednesday (21 August) after a season-long loan deal was agreed between them and Chelsea.

It is understood that West Ham had shown an interest in signing the Albania centre-forward, as well as Everton, Nottingham Forest and Southampton.

However, HITC claims Ipswich are set to sign him after a spell training away from Chelsea’s first team.

Ipswich to sign Armando Broja ahead of West Ham United

It’s unlikely that West Ham were going to sign Broja after they landed Niclas Fullkrug from Borussia Dortmund.

There’s no doubt that the Slough-born Chelsea striker wants to join a club where he’ll earn plenty of game time and at the London Stadium, that wouldn’t have been a guarantee.

Broja’s career hasn’t quite kicked off the way many would have expected due to injury and the fact that he’s trapped in a cycle of loans away from Chelsea.

If the Irons were to sign him on a temporary basis, would he have been above Fullkrug, Michail Antonio and even Danny Ings in Julen Lopetegui’s pecking order? Jarrod Bowen can do a job there, too, so it’s not likely.

Ings is an interesting one because he could still be shipped out before the end of the transfer window and there have also been rumours about Antonio’s longevity in Stratford in recent years.

However, nothing seems concrete right now and Lopetegui could be quite happy with his striker options now the Premier league season has kicked off.
