Anthony Martial set for Manchester United talks, West Ham United want transfer

Manchester United forward Anthony Martial is set to hold talks with the club regarding his future, as West Ham are among the teams interested in his services, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper shared via its website on 13 August that Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag has been open to moving Martial on all summer after last season was blighted by poor form and fitness issues.

West Ham are joined by Champions League finalists Inter Milan and Turkish giants Fenerbahce in their pursuit of the Frenchman and are yet to hold formal talks over a deal despite expressing interest earlier this month.

West Ham still looking to strengthen

Following the departure of Gianluca Scamacca, who joined Atalanta earlier in the transfer window, West Ham are in need of a new striker to compete with Danny Ings for a starting spot in East London.

This need could soon become even more pressing after the club received an offer from Saudi Arabia for Michail Antonio [Tuttomercato, 13 August], who is the current option for rotation with Ings, and who has been linked with a move away from East London throughout the summer.

Martial would fit in with David Moyes’ desire to bring players with Premier League experience to the club, having played for Manchester United for eight years now.

West Ham

There is a drawback for the Hammers though. Martial suffered from repetitive injury issues last season, as he started just 11 of Manchester United’s 38 Premier League games last season despite their pressing need for a central striker. This is why he has fallen out of favour in Manchester and could put West Ham off of the deal.

In other West Ham news, the club have already identified a replacement for Lucas Paqueta.
