Angel Gomes preference shared as West Ham United ‘twist’ emerges
Angel Gomes is now “keen” on a transfer to Tottenham despite the interest shown in him by West Ham United, according to GiveMeSport.
The online outlet reported via their website (23 January) that the Hammers had pushed a pre-contract offer on the England international, and said the Hammers “upping the ante” was a “significant twist” in the battle for the England international.
The report adds that other teams such as Manchester United, Aston Villa and Newcastle are “admirers” of the attacking midfielder.
However, GiveMeSport said sources have told them Spurs are putting together a proposal for Gomes, who is keen to join Ange Postecoglou’s side.
Angel Gomes would be an impressive addition for West Ham United
Throughout the 2024/25 season, it’s been evident that West Ham have lacked creativity and composure when in front of goal.
Although Carlos Soler has recently come into his own at the London Stadium, it feels like a lot more could come from Graham Potter’s men.
Since his exit from the Red Devils a few years ago, Gomes’ name wasn’t all that remembered in English football until Lee Carsley called the Lille playmaker up to the England national team.
His inclusion in the squad was questioned by many but to most people’s surprise, he more than held his own and was actually one of the Three Lions’ more impressive players.

Only time will tell where the 24-year-old chooses to take his career next but at the moment, it feels like he’s not going be short of suitors wherever he wants to go.
Which, for a player just getting into his prime, is a more than ideal situation.
