Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain bombshell: West Ham locked in talks over shock transfer
West Ham United are in talks over signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain on loan from Besiktas, according to Sozcu.
The Turkish newspaper reported via their website on 28 January that the Irons have made a move to acquire the midfielder’s services on loan with an option to buy before the winter transfer window closes on Monday (3 February).
Graham Potter’s side intend to take advantage of Oxlade-Chamberlain’s desire to return to England, as well as Besiktas’ financial situation.
The only “obstacle” for the East London outfit is that they need to make space for the 31-year-old in the squad, with Tomas Soucek and James Ward-Prowse mooted as options to sell.
West Ham to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain?
It is no secret that West Ham are in the market to sign a new midfielder during the ongoing winter transfer window, with Chelsea duo Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Carney Chukwuemeka among those under consideration.
The Times reported on 9 January that signing an energetic midfielder is one of the Irons’ priorities this window.
Oxlade-Chamberlain would somewhat tick that box as he is known for his driving runs in the attacking half, although injuries have taken a toll on his overall pace.
However, it would be interesting if the Hammers actually signed the former Liverpool and Arsenal ace ahead of the likes of Dewsbury-Hall and Chukwuemeka.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has been plying his trade in Turkey since leaving Liverpool on a free transfer in 2023 and things have not been fruitful for him at Besiktas, having bagged only five goals and an assist in 36 games across all competitions.
The Englishman has been restricted to just 170 minutes of Turkish Super Lig playing time this season.
In other West Ham news, Daniel Levy is in talks for Tottenham to blow the Irons out of the water for this player.
