Alex Crook: West Ham United now at final stages of Kalvin Phillips chase after green light given
West Ham and Manchester City are in the final stages of negotiations over a loan move for Kalvin Phillips after the midfielder gave the Hammers the green light, according to Alex Crook.
The talkSPORT journalist reported on 23 January that negotiations are continuing over the loan fee, as well as the percentage of his wages that the Hammers will pay.
David Moyes’ team appear to have won the race for Phillips, with the midfielder having given the green light, and just the details of the loan to be figured out.
Speaking live on talkSPORT [23 January, 11:56], Crook reported: “Kalvin Phillips, we understand, has now given the green light to West Ham to complete this move. The two clubs are just in the final stages of negotiating the loan fee and percentage of wages that West Ham will be paying.”
Just a matter of time
With Phillips having already agreed to the move to the London Stadium, it’s hard to see any other outcome than the England international midfielder coming to East London to play under Moyes, who is a long-time admirer of his.
Given the level of interest in Phillips’ signature, including from European giants such as Juventus and Barcelona, the decision to move to the London Stadium should be seen as a huge coup from Moyes and his transfer team.
Now it seems to just be about dotting the Is and crossing the Ts in the final stages of negotiations, with nothing drastic likely to change before the deal is agreed.

Phillips will provide a boost to the Hammers in their bid for further silverware and a high Premier League finish, with his winning experience and talent likely to make the difference.
Once the final details have been ironed out, Phillips will be able to travel to the London Stadium to finalise the deal and put any concerns at ease.
In other West Ham news, the club are the most likely to sign a £35million Chelsea ace.
