Alan Brazil and Agbonlahor moot summer swoop for West Ham to sign Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Alan Brazil and Gabby Agbonlahor believe Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin would suit West Ham.
Calvert-Lewin, 25, hasn’t scored a Premier League goal since August and was anonymous as Everton lost 3-2 away at Burnley last night [6 April].
The Sun reported on 22 January that the Irons were lining up a “shock” £60million swoop to sign the England forward in the last transfer window while Claret & Hugh claimed on 29 March that he’s still being scouted by the London club.

Calvert-Lewin has also been linked with Arsenal but talkSPORT host Brazil and ex-Aston Villa striker Agbonlahor both feel as though he’s better suited for West Ham.
“Someone asked me last week on the show, ‘should Arsenal go in for [Calvert-Lewin]?’ I said, ‘no’. He can’t create his own goals,” said Agbonlahor, as shown in a clip on the talkSPORT Twitter account on Thursday morning [7 April].
Brazil then replied: “West Ham. I was thinking more of West Ham.
“David [Moyes] will know him.
Agbonlahor agreed and said: “Yes, maybe West Ham because they like to get crosses in the box.
“But, Al, he doesn’t make his own goals. He has to lay it off and get in the box and the cross has got to be perfect for him to get a goal.
“He’s not going to get the ball into his feet, turn and score a goal. That’s not him.
“For me, he wouldn’t suit Arsenal and he’s going through a bad spell.
“He’s lost his place in the England squad to Tammy Abraham, who can’t stop scoring at Roma.
“Calvert-Lewin needs to do a lot more because if I’m [Salomon] Rondon, I’m saying, ‘you know what, give me a chance’.”
Ideal
Calvert-Lewin hasn’t had a great season.
He’s suffered with terrible form, multiple injury issues, the loss of creator-in-chief Lucas Digne and the fact he’s playing for an absolutely rubbish team in a Premier League relegation battle.
We all know what Calvert-Lewin is capable of because, at the end of the day, this is a striker who netted 21 goals in all competitions last season and scored 15 times the season before that.
Calvert-Lewin is a forward who loves to get on the end of crosses and play alongside other capable attackers.
Just imagine what he can do with Aaron Cresswell getting the ball into the box or linking up with Jarrod Bowen and Said Benrahma.
Michail Antonio’s form has dipped this season but Calvert-Lewin is similar to Antonio in that he’s powerful, good in the air and can link-up play.
West Ham simply cannot go another summer without signing a striker and if Everton are relegated, it shouldn’t be tough to poach Calvert-Lewin away from Goodison Park.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers are ready to pay £25million to sign this “goal machine” after he received a work permit boost.
