Al-Ittihad could table 'Truly Extraordinary' deadline-busting deal for West Ham United star Nayef Aguerd today

Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad could move for West Ham defender Nayef Aguerd before Thursday’s 10pm transfer deadline, report Sky Sports.

Speaking live on Sky Sports News journalist Kaveh Solhekol reports (7 September) that the Hammers are aware of interest in the Moroccan defender but don’t want to sell him.

However the Saudi club could return with a bid before the 10pm deadline today, with Solhekol claiming it would take something “truly extraordinary” to convince West Ham to sell at this stage.

“Another player who they really, really want is Nayef Aguerd, the West Ham centre-back,” he said.

“Again, Al-Ittihad, the champions of Saudi Arabia, it’s not just Mo Salah they want. They want Aguerd as well.

“West Ham are aware of the interest but what we’re being told is that the player is not for sale. They wouldn’t do business because they can’t sign a replacement, unless they get a truly extraordinary offer.

“So again, I think the player is going to stay because West Ham can’t sign a replacement.”

Crazy

We know that Saudi clubs are willing to pay crazy amounts of money to sign players this summer, and today is their last hurrah of the window.

But West Ham know that Aguerd is among our better players and when everyone is fit he is the starting centre-back alongside Kurt Zouma, despite the signing of Dinos Mavropanos earlier this summer too.

Our transfer window is closed now until January and there are no free agents available who would be of the required quality to replace him, so we simply can’t let him go.

But if Al-Ittihad do make that “extraordinary” offer it will be something we seriously have to think about, especially considering the fact the player would likely be open to the move because of the financial gain.

We have to put the club first no doubt, but we also don’t want players stropping that they have to stay. Fingers crossed the offer never comes and we don’t have to worry about that.

In other West Ham news, the club have a “significant” clause in the deal that saw one player leave the club this summer says ExWHUEmployeee.
