AC Milan ready West Ham United player transfer as Theo Hernandez replacement
AC Milan have registered an interest in West Ham full-back Emerson this summer, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Italian transfer specialist reported [17 July] that the Serie A giants have been following the 29-year-old’s situation at the London Stadium for “some time” but the signing has been compromised.
AC Milan see Emerson as a potential replacement for their current left-back Theo Hernandez, in case they receive an “unmissable” offer for the Frencham this summer.
Could West Ham United lose Emerson this summer?
The Italian full-back has become one of the most important players in the Hammers squad in recent seasons, having amassed 81 appearances since arriving from Chelsea in 2022.
He missed just two Premier League matches in the last campaign, with David Moyes clearly having favourites in both full-back positions as Vladimir Coufal was also preferred.
Despite notching just one goal and two assists, Emerson is extremely vital to how the Hammers build their attacks, linking up well with Lucas Paqueta on the left flank as well as being defensively sound.
However, with his previous links to Serie A after a three-year spell with AS Roma, it could seem likely that he returns to Italy, especially if AC Milan are to lose one of their biggest stars.
Transfer rumours have regularly swirled around Hernandez, having made 214 appearances for the Italian giants, so it makes sense for a replacement to be lined up in case of a worst-case scenario this summer.

Sadly for the Hammers, that could mean losing Emerson, which would be a major concern heading into the 2024/25 campaign given the club’s lack of depth in the position.
Although Aaron Cresswell has extended his stay at the London Stadium, he only made four Premier League starts last season, and fellow full-back Ben Johnson could be set for an exit.
In other West Ham news, Ben Johnson could sign a new contract after a recent update at the London Stadium.
