Aaron Wan-Bissaka to sign long-term West Ham United contract after Manchester United transfer

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is in line to sign a six-year contract when his move to West Ham is agreed with Manchester United, Florian Plettenberg reports.

According to the Sky Sports Germany journalist via X on 10 August there is a verbal agreement in place with the 26-year-old and personal terms sorted, with a deal now expected until 2030.

The clubs now want to close the deal today with a planned medical expected to take place within the next three days, and according to Plettenberg “they will”.

Progress has appeared minimal at times but there looked to be a deal to be done since the right-back needed to be moved on from Erik ten Hag’s squad to allow him to bring in Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich [Fabrizio Romano, 29 July].

There was the threat that a swap deal with Inter involving Denzel Dumfries could have derailed the Irons’ hopes [The Athletic, 6 August].

But it looks like Tim Steidten is now about to add another success during the window, with the past 10 days seeing the club make stunning transfer progress.

Niclas Fullkrug, Crysencio Summerville and Guido Rodriguez are already sealed, Todibo will be announced imminently, and Wan-Bissaka will satisfy Julen Lopetegui’s final request of the summer [The Sun, 5 August].

As Kurt Zouma leaves and Nayef Aguerd could still follow there surely remains scope for a third centre-back to follow, amid “concrete” developments towards Nathan Zeze from Nantes [Sport Italia, 9 August].

And while Fullkrug finally satisfies the need for a new striker the back-up is iffy in light of Michail Antonio’s fitness and Danny Ings’ form, so if there was another addition to be made there it would be a bonus.

In other West Ham news, the Irons have been offered another free agent signing after he switched agents over a failed move.
