West Ham Super Fans are ecstatic that Angelo Ogbonna is reportedly being considered for an extension at the club.
The Italian is in the final year of his current deal and at 33, there were no guarantees that the club would want him to stay put.
However, Claret and Hugh have reported that the Hammers could offer a one-year extension to the centre-back.
Despite his age, this news was taken very well by the Irons fans on Facebook.
Ogbonna has been a regular under David Moyes and has started to form a very good understanding with Kurt Zouma at the back.
Here’s what the supporters said:
Even if the plans are to get in another centre-back in the summer, letting go of Ogbonna makes little sense.
The Italian has proven to be a reliable cog for Moyes and at that age, his influence in the dressing room is unparalleled.
While Declan Rice may be the de-facto leader, he’s relatively inexperienced and does not have the know-how of riling the troops when the chips are down.
Ogbonna does and he must be kept on for that reason even if Moyes does not want to play him regularly.
Regardless of what they do in the summer, another defensive signing is paramount and we would like to see the Hammers rekindle their interest in Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic.
