Jack Cunningham Fan Mailbag: When are the owners going to leave?
Every week we’ll be asking West Ham fans on Twitter and Facebook for questions that will be answered by our correspondent, Jack Cunningham. You can join in by liking West Ham Zone on Facebook and watching out for weekly mailbag posts.
The West Ham takeover saga has been bubbling away over the summer, with PAI Capital making strong public statements about their intentions to buy the club.
David Gold and David Sullivan have been in charge now since 2010, and in that time, the Hammers have achieved one top-six finish and moved from Upton Park to the London Stadium.
There have been protests against the owners for years, but they still haven’t gone anywhere, even with PAI’s apparent interest in buying the Irons.
We asked for your burning questions about the Irons this week for West Ham Zone correspondent Jack Cunningham to answer. One fan wanted to know about when Gold, Sullivan, and Karen Brady would leave.
At the moment, it appears as if Gold and Sullivan have absolutely no intention of selling the Hammers to PAI.
Sullivan came out and publicly slammed the group and their attempts to buy the Irons and described the bid as “derisory” [The Athletic].
In an interview with the Sunday Times, PAI then claimed last week that they had made another offer to buy the Hammers.
However, Irons insiders Claret & Hugh claim that this second bid for the club hasn’t arrived, and it appears more and more unlikely that PAI are not going to be buying the Hammers any time soon.
The group have tried to recruit former players and have also agreed a deal with the London Legacy Development Corporation to acquire the London Stadium should the takeover go through [Evening Standard].
However, their only bid for the club was rejected ages ago, and it appears as if they haven’t made a second offer despite a lot of shouting.
So, it doesn’t appear as if Gold, Sullivan, and Brady will be leaving any time soon unless a new group or a new huge offer arrives out of the blue.
