West Ham already have secret weapon in Brighton showdown as stunning Callum Wilson stat emerges

Callum Wilson could prove to be the difference-maker for West Ham in their upcoming showdown against Brighton on Sunday.

The Hammers face a difficult challenge at the American Express Stadium as they look to escape the relegation zone.

Brighton are the favourites for the clash, with West Ham having an awful record against the Seagulls in recent years.

However, Wilson’s incredible record against Brighton could be the secret weapon Nuno Espirito Santo needs.

Callum Wilson has 10 goal contributions vs Brighton

Wilson has been an excellent signing since he arrived at West Ham in the summer.

The striker has netted four times in 11 Premier League matches so far this campaign, which has kept Niclas Fullkrug out of the starting XI.

Recently, Troy Deeney hailed Wilson as “phenomenal” after he netted twice against Bournemouth.

Many fans will be surprised by this goal return, given that the former England international is no doubt past his best.

However, if he can continue to rediscover his old form, he could be one of the Hammers’ most important players on Sunday.

So far in his career, Wilson has faced Brighton 14 times in all competitions. In these encounters, he has netted six times against the Seagulls, while also providing four assists.

In fact, in his last Premier League start against the Seagulls, he netted and picked up an assist.

Therefore, Wilson could prove to be the secret weapon Nuno needs for the clash.

If he can find the net once again, it would give the Hammers a great chance of getting a result.

What has Nuno Espirito Santo said ahead of the Brighton match?

Despite West Ham’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Thursday, results elsewhere actually meant that the Hammers slipped into the bottom three.

With Leeds now starting to pick up form, it is no doubt a dangerous time for Nuno’s side as they look to avoid relegation.

When questioned about West Ham’s current situation in the table, Nuno told BBC Sport on 5 December: “We cannot avoid it. It is a reality. We have to face it.

“We are fighting for survival. We cannot hide it. The results of other teams we cannot control. It is up to us.”
