Nuno may be to blame for Jarrod Bowen’s worst West Ham form in two seasons

Jarrod Bowen is without a single goal contribution for West Ham in his last four games.

West Ham lost 2-0 to Liverpool at the London Stadium on Sunday, but it wasn’t for a lack of trying.

Lucas Paqueta didn’t help the Hammers by receiving a red card late on in the game, but Bowen was slammed for failing to protect his team-mate.

West Ham are in a battle to stay in the Premier League, and while Nuno Espirito Santo may have improved the Irons in certain areas, Bowen is now suffering under his management.

Jarrod Bowen didn’t go more than three games without a goal contribution last season

Throughout the entirety of last season, Bowen didn’t go longer than three games without registering a goal or an assist.

The last time the Englishman failed to pick up a goal contribution this long was during the 2023-24 season, when he blanked from January to February in 2024.

Now, almost two seasons on, Bowen has achieved the same unwanted record after the Liverpool match, and blame should be pointed at Nuno.

On top of this, Bowen is without a goal since September, and the Hammers are in desperate need of him to return to form.

The Irons come up against Manchester United next in the Premier League, and if Bowen comes away without any attacking output once again, then alarm bells will start ringing.

Why isn’t Bowen performing under Nuno Espirito Santo?

Nuno has steadied the ship, and West Ham have shown more of an identity since his arrival, but that’s come at the cost of Bowen’s form.

The 28-year-old could be playing his final season at E20 this year, and there’s no doubt that he gives it his all in every match.

However, the forward has had limited impact in attacking situations and it’s becoming more and more apparent that he is not suited to Nuno’s playstyle.

Nuno likes to play counterattacking football, which on paper should suit Bowen, but it’s just not clicking right now.

There have been rumours of Bowen leaving West Ham, and the skipper may seek a January exit if things don’t improve with his ambitions to be in England’s 2026 World Cup squad.
