Nuno has significant Callum Wilson decision to make for West Ham vs Fulham, the stats show why

Nuno Espirito Santo has plenty of options in attack for West Ham’s trip to Craven Cottage to take on Fulham on Wednesday.

Jarrod Bowen and Taty Castellanos were among the goal involvements as West Ham lost 5-2 against Liverpool, with the pair combining for the Hammers’ second goal at Anfield.

Meanwhile, Adama Traore will be hoping for a start against his former employers, while additionally, Callum Wilson is another player Nuno could call upon.

However, against the Reds, Wilson was an unused substitute, but there is now a clear reason as to why the Irons manager should consider starting him against Marco Silva’s side.

Why Callum Wilson could be a good option for West Ham against Fulham

Castellanos may have been on the scoresheet against Liverpool, but Wilson could make a case to start due to his history against Fulham.

In seven Premier League appearances against the Cottagers, Wilson has picked up five goal contributions, showing the London side are a favourable opponent for the striker.

Wilson has found himself in and out of the Hammers’ squad this season, but playing him against Marco Silva’s side may be the wisest move for Nuno.

Including the 5-2 defeat to Liverpool, West Ham will have had three games in the space of 12 days, with Brentford in the FA Cup next after Fulham.

With that schedule, it is an excellent time for rotation, and it could see Wilson get his chance to lead the line once more.

Over the last seven Premier League fixtures, Wilson has only started one game, playing just 20 per cent of the available minutes in that period.

He may be out of favour at the moment, but Nuno must surely consider offering him another lifeline against one of his more favourable oppositions.

Additionally, the 34-year-old has lost just twice against Fulham throughout his career, and with West Ham needing points in the relegation battle, that is not a bad omen to have.

How West Ham could exit relegation zone this week

Nuno could find his West Ham side out of the relegation zone following the midweek matches, and psychologically that would be a boost.

Fixtures this week are kind, but the Hammers must get their own job done against Fulham.

Relegation rivals Nottingham Forest travel to the Etihad, where you would suspect Manchester City will secure all three points.

However, following facing Fulham, the Irons will face Man City themselves in Premier League action, but being outside the drop zone could provide some added relief.

It is certainly a crucial week for the London Stadium side and their hopes of staying up.
