Lucas Paqueta West Ham future could be decided after what he did v Brighton

Lucas Paqueta has continued to leave West Ham questioning if he is the same player after his performance against Brighton on Saturday [21 December].

The Brazillian has previously been a standout player for the Hammers but has struggled this season as he continues to vehemently deny FA charges of spot-fixing, with Martin Allen claiming he’s “not the same player.”

The 27-year-old started for Julen Lopetegui as his side played out a draw against Brighton, playing 71 minutes before being substituted.

Amid his struggles and cryptic online posts from the midfielder, there has been speculation over where Paqueta’s future lies.

Could Lucas Paqueta be done at West Ham?

With the January transfer window edging closer, decisions over his future may have to be made with his current form in mind.

Despite spending 71 minutes on the pitch, the attacking midfielder failed to impress as he struggled to get into the game in any way at all.

According to FotMob, the Brazilian had an attacking shot accuracy of 0% with a 0% success rate of dribbles and just one touch in the opposition box.

In addition to this Paqueta, who tallied up six assists last season, made just two passes into the final third and completed half of his long ball efforts to his teammates.

With one tackle won and nine duels lost throughout his time on the pitch too, it shows that the midfielder failed to have an effective impact at either end of the pitch as his side drew 1-1 with their opponents.

With a lot of uncertainty in East London, the Brazilian needs to be showing that he can still deliver to the high levels that are expected of him otherwise we could soon see him moved on from the London Stadium.

Who knows, Lopetegui might even sanction his exit as soon as January.

In other West Ham news, this Hammers player could be set to take a pay cut in order to stay at the London Stadium.
