Callum Wilson has the perfect chance to score his first goal at the London Stadium as West Ham welcome Burnley on Saturday.

Wilson was snubbed by Nuno Espirito Santo when he wasn't brought on in West Ham's 2-0 loss to Brentford, but he did start in the win over Newcastle.

Since his arrival in the summer, the 33-year-old has sparked plenty of debate among West Ham fans.

However, Wilson was excellent against Newcastle on Sunday, and there is a huge chance that he'll be able to score his second goal of the season against Burnley on 8 November.

Callum Wilson can continue his brilliant record against Burnley

The 33-year-old has an abundance of Premier League experience, and he could prove himself to be invaluable to West Ham's survival chances.

Wilson only has more Premier League goals against his current club, West Ham (12), and Everton (8) than he does against Burnley (7), scoring six goals in his last four starts against the Clarets.

Wilson has also scored in five of his last seven starts against newly promoted teams.

West Ham's brilliant record against Burnley bodes well for Wilson, who has an incredibly impressive record against sides that are lower down the table.

The Hammers are embroiled in a relegation battle, and there were fears that Nuno wasn't prepared to use Wilson at all.

Wilson was finally trusted by Nuno against Newcastle, and there is now little doubt that he won't start against Burnley at the London Stadium.

West Ham still have a lot to do if they want to prove themselves under Nuno, and Wilson's performances could dictate the outcome of their season.

Callum Wilson has a huge job on his hands to keep West Ham up

It goes without saying that he has an almighty task ahead of him, given his age and injury history.

With Niclas Fullkrug unavailable and the experiment to use Lucas Paqueta as a false nine not working out, the fate of West Ham's Premier League status could come down to Wilson.

Having registered 112 goal contributions in the top flight, Wilson is no stranger to digging his team out of trouble, and he did this excellently at both Bournemouth and Newcastle.

His goalscoring exploits have been perfect over the past 10 years, and this season could be his best one yet, he just needs to stay fit.
