Aaron Wan-Bissaka has Premier League attackers running scared after latest West Ham showing

Aaron Wan-Bissaka was once again superb as West Ham defeated Fulham to boost their Premier League survival hopes on Wednesday.

Before going away to the Africa Cup of Nations in December, Wan-Bissaka regularly switched between playing right-back and right-wing back.

As a result, the 28-year-old struggled to build up momentum, but since his return in January, it’s been a different story.

The DR Congo international has been brilliant under Nuno Espirito Santo, and he showed that in abundance during his assured display in West Ham’s 1-0 win over Fulham on Wednesday.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka proved his worth vs Fulham

While the likes of Crysencio Summerville and Mads Hermansen will earn all the plaudits, West Ham’s right-back deserves a special mention.

Wan-Bissaka has been rightfully criticised for some lapses in concentration this season, although it’s clear that Nuno is helping him to erase that from his game.

He kept Alex Iwobi quiet on the right-hand side, which is no mean feat given the Nigerian’s recent run of form.

Was-Bissaka won the only ground duel he faced, while also making six clearances and six recoveries.

According to Sofascore, the 28-year-old has won 37 interceptions and 25 tackles across the season, which shows how defensively solid he has proven himself to be.

Wan-Bissaka has been an important presence in attack, and his 43.2 per cent rate of successful crosses is a higher rate than 96.1 per cent of all other right-backs in the top flight.

As seen in the Sofascore graphic above, Wan-Bissaka has excelled in many different departments, and his versatility is proving to be crucial for West Ham‘s survival bid.

Kyle Walker-Peters will be worried by Wan-Bissaka’s recent form

Kyle Walker-Peters joined West Ham from Southampton in the summer transfer window on a free transfer.

Nuno is rapidly losing faith in the 28-year-old, despite having a promising start to the season.

The former Tottenham full-back’s only goal this campaign came in the 3-2 win over Burnley, and he has started just 10 top-flight matches in 2025-26.

An even bigger worry is that he has only featured in two minutes of Premier League action since 6 January.

Walker-Peters was linked with a move to Fiorentina in the winter transfer window, and his future could become increasingly uncertain if his game time doesn’t improve.

With Wan-Bissaka performing well at right-back, that might not happen under Nuno, and he should definitely be worries about his long-term future.
