West Ham United to listen to offers for Declan Rice in 2023 - ExWHUemployee

West Ham United will be open to listening to offers for captain Declan Rice in the summer of 2023, according to ExWHUemployee on Sunday 20 November.

The Hammers midfielder is out of contract in the summer of 2024, but the club will want to cash in on the 23-year-old before possibly losing him on a free transfer after new deals were rejected.

Chelsea are among a host of suitors rumoured to be tracking the 34-capped England international, who has started every game for David Moyes’ side this season and is crucial to Gareth Southgate’s World Cup plans in Qatar. [The Mirror]

Taking to Twitter to reply to a question surrounding rumours of Rice’s potential sale, ExWHUEmployee shared his bad news in a two-word statement.

He said: “Yes, unfortunately.”

West Ham fans might finally have to resign themselves to the thought of Declan Rice wearing a different-coloured strip than Claret and Blue next season.

In each fan’s heart of hearts, they know that the inevitable may be drawing near, and the club should cash in on their prized assets while they can.

Aston Villa have shown that losing a star player doesn’t condemn you to disaster, but gives you the funds to re-invest in numerous areas of your squad.

With Moyes already needing a midfielder, a right-back and another number nine – funds from the 23-year-old’s sale could solve all of these problems and fill over the cracks which have surfaced following a poor start to the season.

With Blues boss Graham Potter on the lookout for a new midfielder, with N’golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho all looking past their best this season, Rice is the obvious candidate to carry them into this new era.
